A while back, I had purchased the plugin called Reality which utilizes LuxRender to render 3D images in a hyperrealistic manner -- quite unlike the default engine I use to create my work.
I'd had some trouble using Reality (a lot of annoyance and frustration, to be honest), so I shelved it for a while. A new version of LuxRender came out just recently, so I figured I'd try again.
After fiddling with some settings and better understanding how this engine uses light, I was able to make a couple of images using Hercules and Talro.
There are still an awful lot of things that annoy me about this engine (namely how it handles textures and its inconsistencies and crashes with hardware and drivers), but I can't deny it can result in some incredibly nice-looking images.
They look almost like clay figures, huh?
Wow AMAZING!!!
ReplyDeleteReally good image wise
ReplyDeletehowever and Im not criticisizing they almost look
rubber in their skin tone to me
Yes, I agree. I set the skin to matte, since the default glossy was giving me a very strange mirror finish to their skins. Rather than fight with it too much, I settled on this look.
DeleteI just had a quick comment on just a general subject and I've visited your blog many times and I really love your work and think this is the best place to bring this up haha. I was just surfing around the internet and came across a picture of master chief from Halo and someone envisioned what he would look like without his armor on and they made him look big and muscular (which he should be! if its not already then the designers really need to work on that) I mean anyone who can throw vehicles must look similar to that. But everyone just started viciously making fun of the picture and how disgusting it was and it really really annoyed me (probably more than it should have haha). I just don't understand why some people find muscular people unappealing, I think it is the most attractive thing in the world and quite frankly can't get enough of it haha. So in essence thank you BiffandGunloc for making a blog devoted to large muscular people like this so people who actually enjoy it and love it can enjoy it without these other people ragging on them for absolutely no reason. (You can see that people making fun of people for large muscles makes me upset haha)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to go on a rant that has nothing to do with your amazing renders, but I feel that this post would be in good company with its subject matter.
Thank you again for such an amazing blog and please keep spreading the love of muscles to everyone haha.
That's very kind of you to say -- thanks for hanging around! And I don't mind the rant whatsoever. Sometimes you just gotta let things out!
DeleteI understand what you mean about those who say that musculature of this amount is "gross" or "disgusting" -- two of my closest friends have that view!
I just try and remember that there are a ton of other guys out there who enjoy muscle and the bodybuilders who pack them. Screw the idiots who refuse to click away and go do something else.
Its when other people jump on the band wagon for the sake of acceptance is when I really get annoyed. Thanks for letting me rant haha. I just hope that the number of people who love and prefer large musculature far outweighs those who don't. Or at least in my perfect world they do haha.
DeleteThanks for responding
I agree that muscles are magnificent...the bigger the better...I love to see two muscle bound studs wrestling and fighting...winner takes all...those who can't appreciate this aesthetic...dating from classical antiquity...may just go elsewhere...
DeleteAmen
DeleteIts amazing work, I could never use anything like this software your work is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteThanks much, man. I appreciate that.
DeleteBut really, anyone can do this just as well as I can. I'm still learning as I go, even! You'd do amazing stuff, yourself, I'm sure.
The potential to use this software to heighten your already brilliant work is beyond imagination...your work is PURE ART..
ReplyDeleteThank you for that!
