Super Street Slam Masters

Super Street Fighter II meets Saturday Night Slam Masters in this little fight between brothers Guile and Gunloc on the military muscleman's home turf!  I finally got this one done, and although it was very different from what I'm used to, it was quite a lot of fun!

I spent the majority of modeling time recreating Guile's airbase stage into 3D.  I ended up implementing some sprites from the game to give it a more familiar feel.

Instead of giving them sprites, I translated Guile's Sonic Boom and Flash Kick effects into stylized flares to make them look like they belong.  It was a strange balancing act between 2D sprites, 3D modeling, and updated effects.  Hopefully it all meshes well together.

And yes, at the last minute, I was able to update the crates to break into boards!  Mwahahahah!

Anyway, I'll let you get right in to it.  I hope you guys enjoy this tale of two brothers rumbling on the street and getting it on fighter-versus-wrestler style!

Oh, and I added a fun treat at the very end for fans of Super Street Fighter II.  It was a nice way to wind down from the craziness of all the rendering and post-work!

  1. That was SUPER cute, lol.

Great work again on this one! I like the way it progresses.

  3. You'll have to have him tussle with that smaller stud now you know. Or some nice close ups off Guile and his bro getting to 'know' each other a bit more :p

    1. Hmm... smaller guy? Oh! The dude with the car? He doesn't have a name, so I called him Dude in the studio. :D I didn't have any plans to do anything like that with he and Guile, but if there's more interest, I could probably do something.

And yeah, I actually experimented with doing a close up shot on the image where they're cumming together, but it didn't look quite right, so I ended up just keeping it consistent with the previous cameras. I'll fiddle with it a bit tonight and see if I can make it work.

    1. Argh, I know it. If not explicit gay sex, then at least some heavy fanservice, please! :D

I want Zangief wearing even tinier trunks, Ryu in a fundoshi, Ken in a speedo, and Guile squeezing his manhood into a skimpy camo thong for starters! Not to mention the rest of the superbly-hot cast!

    2. Let's all hope that when 'Tekken x Street Fighter' eventually gets made, the standard Tekken customization options will all be intact. In TTT2, nearly every male character came with a fundoshi option which left VERY little to the imagination. I'd love to pop Ryu or Guile into one of those bad boys. >]

    3. Oh, man, that would be awesome. I don't currently have a PS3, but when I eventually get one, I'd love to also pick up TTT2 (edit: typo!) and ogle at all the awesome fundoshi action.

I don't even remember why, but I found and watched this cinematic trailer ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I00HHCmEEGw ) of SF x Tekken a couple of days ago and my insides just turned to jelly. All that manly meat contained in a wrestling ring.

And friggin' Mike Haggar being defeated with a German suplex by King in the first few seconds! So hot.

    4. Aww, no PS3? When you get one you should totally add me on PSN. We can have fundoshi fights. ;D

SFxT was a little lackluster to me in actual gameplay for some reason, but Capcom really did put out some phenomenal trailers for it. That one you linked is my favorite, due to Final Fight nostalgia reasons (and Cody being my favorite SF character)

I remember actually being a bit miffed Haggar got defeated so easily in it though. He should've at least presented a challenge, but the King/Marduk tag team barely looked winded from taking him down! I guess the muscle mayor's really lost his touch since retiring from office.

    5. Oh, you're on, man. Prepare yourself for that day! >:D

Was it? Darn. I'd heard that sales were weaker than what the two companies wanted and that there were doubts about the reverse game -- but I think it'll come. Cody is your favorite? Cool. :3

Yeah, thinking back on it, it's a bit disappointing that they didn't at least show Haggar putting up a fight against the two. Poor guy. Looks like he needs Gunloc to train him this time.

    6. Yeah, I mean, it was fun and all and looked great, but the whole on-disc DLC fiasco left a sour taste in a lot of people's mouths. Both my main (Cody) and my brother's (Sakura) weren't available for the first several months, and by the time they were finally unlocked both of us had kinda lost interest in playing anymore.

It does have a lot of fun modes though . .. I might pick it back up again sometime. I will say that it definitely has one of the hunkiest rosters of all time. xD Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Guile, Abel, Zangief, Hugo, Cody, Blanka, Kazuya, Heihachi, Paul Phoenix, King, Marduk, Ogre . . . I'm probably missing some. I hope that Namco isn't reconsidering TxSF as you posit, because that's the game I'm really looking forward to.

And yeah, Cody's been my fave since SFA3. I love the redesign he got as a jailbird, and his new "bored" attitude as an adrenaline junkie. While Capcom's done their usual poorly done job of informing us how and WHY he became that way, I still am a big fan of his new looks and personality. :] Too bad I suck at actually playing as him though . . .

And I think Gunloc could definitely stand to take the old man in the ring for a couple rounds and tighten up his skills. ;D

    7. Ooh yeah, the on-disc DLC... That caused quite a stir back when it was discovered. Really poorly handled, I have to say. Hopefully lessons were learned from it all, at least.

They made you wait months for that?! That's crazy. @_@ At least the roster that was there was pretty nice, like you listed! Mmm, Zangief versus Marduk. Fundoshi Zangief, please, Namco!

Yeah, I have Super Street Fighter IV for the 3DS and when I played through Cody's story, I couldn't quite understand some of those things. I like his redesign, too. It certainly beats his... odd Streetwise version, in my opinion. What a strange game that was... Luckily I only paid a couple of dollars for a used copy.

And yeah, I think after getting his ass beaten (and fucked) in the ring by his former student would get Haggar mad and fighting right again. >:D

    8. Incredible story and graphics. I'm not very good at fighting games on ps3, but I have several and always fun to have some good fights, good wrestling as smd vs raw or soul calibur, tekken etc. I'm not English, but If anyone has ps3 and wants to add me to PSN, we can have some good fights;)

  5. Oh man! SOOO many little details in this for fans of the genre. I loved the lifebars, and how as the fight wore, even the guys in the background whipped off their shirts! The super moves also turned out great, and were all immediately recognizable. And then there was the ending sequence of course . . . Too bad Gunloc, better luck next time. ;]

    Absolutely LOVED it!!

    1. Aw, thanks, man! I'm happy to hear that!

Poor Gunloc. He really did wanna beat his big bro, but he's got a long way to go before he's able to bring Guile down. >:D

    2. Hahah, he'll just have to keep trying then! And until he succeeds, Guile will just have to keep filling his brother's ass up with spunk to make sure the kid knows who the REAL fighter in the family is.

    3. Hopefully the wrestler will look on the bright side: at least he'll get his recommended daily intake of protein. *wide grin*

    4. Especially since Guile will insist he swallows. >D

Does this mean Biff Slamkovich (Aleksey Zalazof), is going up against Zangief?

    1. Thanks! I'm glad to hear you liked it.

I would definitely be open to that someday. Zangief is one of my favorite of the Street Fighters, so I'd love to try my hand at him one day when I'm capable of doing him right.
